A good mountain run! Action shots! Poem

It looks like I just might be getting my groove back! Had a good run up the mountain today, didn’t push myself to exhaustion just went with the flow and still had some energy left over at the end.

Was able to balance my phone on low branch and set up this action shot!

And of course today’s graph! 2,300 feet climbed for the metricaly challenged.

I have also gone back to commuting by bike, so definitely getting some cross training in.

Next Sunday I have a 29k trail race with 1,500 meters! Yikes. I did this race last year and had a horrible time, so I am a little stressed about but I am sure it will be so much better this year. It will be fun to compare the results! (Or not).

Today’s poem!

A Song of Enchantment by Walter de la Mare

A song of Enchantment I sang me there,
In a green-green wood, by waters fair,
Just as the words came up to me
I sang it under the wild wood tree.

Widdershins turned I, singing it low,
Watching the wild birds come and go;
No cloud in the deep dark blue to be seen
Under the thick-thatched branches green.

Twilight came: silence came:
The planet of Evening’s silver flame;
By darkening paths I wandered through
Thickets trembling with drops of dew.

But the music is lost and the words are gone
Of the song I sang as I sat alone,
Ages and ages have fallen on me –
On the wood and the pool and the elder tree.

Happy Monday, happy runday!

  1. Sweet poem! And very nice climb! I think you’ll do great this weekend. You’re much stronger this year. Just don’t overdo it before Saturday… you don’t want to be fatigued. (Sheesh, I’m in mom overdrive since the child came home) 😊

    Have a confession… I am not much into poetry, but I did read this one because I know (know of) WdlM… I liked it! 🙂
